COLONIA in town

June 22, 2012 - We were gathered in Peoples Beach Bar, Herceg Novi. A lovely environment for music evenings, under the palm trees. This time visited by the dance band Colonia. We could sense that something great was going to happen. And it did. The beach was packed with people, everyone in a good mood. More than one hour delay; as usual, made it even more exciting. I had been waiting on a bar outside the gate, watching happy people arriving; having some viljamovka’s to find the mood. And I did.

Colonia was founded in 1996 by Boris Đurđević and Tomislav Jelić, two DJ’s from Vinkovci, Croatia. As the two of them did not sing, they later hired Indira "Ira" Vladić from Županja to become their vocalist. The name of the group comes from the ancient Latin name of their hometown Vinkovci which was "Colonia Aurelia Cibalae.”^(Wikipedia)

Colonia soon became one of the best selling musical groups in Croatia, later they had great success all over Balkan, and even in Asia. Search for their music in http://www.colonia.hr/index.php , in  Youtube or elsewhere. Be prepared for strong emotions and hard rhythms. My pictures don’t tell much; hopefully just that we had a wonderful evening at the beach late night in 30 degrees centigrade.

Climate in Herceg Novi

TEMPERATURES
People never stop asking how is the climate here during winter. Norwegian weather forecasts do not make a distinction between the coastal and the continental Balkan climate. I can tell you; there is a big difference. I compare the winter here with a summer in my town Lillehammer, among the best climate zones in Norway. This is ment to be a kind of answer to all the questions. Ok; I dont measure the official temperatures, but they are how I find them on the shady side of my house. There is never direct sun. Take it for what it is; my private, not official measurings.

Hotel Tamaris goodbye

You might, (according to some internet sites) still book a stay at the Hotel Tamaris in Igalo. The Hotel has 280 (290) comfortable beds in rooms and apartments, all with balconies facing the sea, with bath or shower, WC and telephone. The Hotel has elevator, restaurant, cafe, summer garden, terrace, aperitifbar, TV lounge, hair salon, private beach, indoor swimming pool and central heating. Open year round.
I would still warn you, and advice you to find another. (sorry but this is Google Translater work)

Du kan, (iflg noen nettsteder) fortsatt booke opphold på Hotel Tamaris i Igalo. Hotellet har 280 (290) komfortable senger i rom og leiligheter, alle med balkong mot sjøen, med bad eller dusj, WC og telefon. I hotellet er det heis, restaurant, kafé, sommerhage, terasse, aperitifbar, TV-salong, frisørsalong, egen strand, innendørs svømmebasseng og sentralfyring. Åpent hele året.

Caffe Tamaris, where we had so many nice, sweaty and late dance evenings
to beautiful and very live music and tall glasses.
The hairdresser studio to the right has become very heavy run now.

No wonder my beautiful Yucca Palm got that sadness.
The two pictures are taken just before and after the last explosion.
I met several locals today who reacts the same way.
A friend who worked in Hotel Tamaris more than 30 years, he cried.

Ikke rart at den vakre yucca-palmen min ble så trist.
